This blog abides by word of mouth marketing standards. We believe in honesty of relationship, opinion and identity. While not specifically related to content of this site, Karen is a brand ambassador for INKnBurn.com.  She is a Microsoft Data Platform MVP and occasionally receives branded items from Microsoft, namely branded clothing and award disks.  She also receives free development (non-production) licenses for Microsoft products and services, including an MSDN Enterprise subscription.

InfoAdvisors is a Microsoft Partner and receives discounted partner production software licenses for enterprise products.

Karen is a frequent attendee of Tech Field Day events, which bring independent writers and influencers together with vendor product management teams.  Typically travel expenses are covered as are meals and social outings.  These expenses are paid by Tech Field Day.  No compensation is paid to Karen by the vendors presenting. There may be swag or other gifts and these are disclosed in each event section.

  • Drinks from Cisco at their vBacon event (I don’t eat bacon).
  • Drinks at a private party hosted by X-IO.
  • VMWare Event party (snack food and drinks), plus Fall Out Boys performance

Delegate for Tech Field Data eXtra at VMWorld. Hotel expenses  for 3 nights and some meals were covered by Tech Field Day.  I received as swag:

  • Sandisk: a WiFi thumbdrive and a portable bluetooth speaker
  • Primary Data: Tile, USB Stick and t-shirt
